Friends are like seashells "Birthday Card"

Thanks for popping by today!  There is something about the ocean that makes me feel calm and peaceful!  Of course I live in the desert and don't get to see the ocean often but all my memories of time spent near the ocean are great ones!  So I was excited to make a card that brings in a little of the sea!

For this card I used the Friends are Like Seashells Bundle.  I add in some card stock, the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper and some Opal rounds to finish it off!  The really cool thing about the large die is that it's one piece and when it is cut out it leaves the outline for the shells to be stamped into place. Stampin Up® again designed a set that can make creating cards quick and easy!

Cuts and Card Base - DSP = Designer Series Paper

Card Base - Sahara Sand - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4

Layer 1 - Sand & Sea DSP - 4 x 5 1/4

Layer 2 - Basic White - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

Layer 3 - Scraps - Sahara Sand, So Saffron, Blushing Bride and Seaside Spray

Layer 4 - Basic White - 1 1/2 x 2 1/2

Layer 5 - Basic White - 4 x 5 1/4

Step by Step Instructions:

  1. Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front.
  2. Layer 2 - Using the Seaside Seashells dies and the largest one piece die run through the die cut machine.
  3. In the spot for each shell stamp the images where they go.  I used Seaside spray, So Saffron, Blushing Bride, and Flirty Flamingo inks for this.
  4. Then using a sponge dauber and Mint Macaron ink, chalk in the vines and seaweed.
  5. Adhere to Layer 1 on card front.
  6. Layer 3 - Using the scraps stamp the following images in the same ink as the color of cardstock.  Sahara Sand - Sand Dollar, So Saffron - Star Fish, Blushing Bride - Clam, Seaside Spray - Clam.  Then cut out with the coordinating dies.
  7. Using Dimensionals adhere these to the card front as shown.
  8. Layer 4 - Stamp the sentiment in Black Memento Ink then cut out with the scallop oval from the Double Oval Punch. Adhere to the card front in the upper right corner as shown.
  9. Apply Opal rounds - 2 on the sentiment label and 1 on the Sand Dollar.
  10. Layer 5 - Stamp the large shell in Seaside Spray ink in the lower right hand corner as shown.  Then stamp the sentiment in Black Memento ink in the center. Adhere to the inside of the card.

Like I said it's a quick and simple card but looks like it takes a very long time to complete!  Anyone who receives it will really be amazed at all the work you did.  Hope you will take the time to leave me a comment below!
