Morning Star - Working with Sketches Card 1

Have you ever struggled coming up with a design for a card?  I have!  When that happens I turn to card sketches.  It's pretty easy to find them you just type "Free Card Sketches" into google and poof you will have more ideas then you need.  I created a series of three cards using the Morning Star stamp set from Stampin Up!® and sketches.  Here is the first card in the series.



Abeautiful card that works for several occasions! Graduation, congratulations, and to help uplift someone in your life!



Project Recipe:
Cuts for Card Base, Card stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Card Base: Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
Layer 1 - 2019-2021 In Color DSP- 2 1/2 x 4 1/4
Layer 2 - Rococo Rose - 1/2 x 4 1/4
Layer 3 - Whisper White - 2 1/2 x 4 1/4
Layer 4 - Pretty Peacock - 4 1/8 x 5 3/8
Layer 5 - 4 x 5 1/4
  1. On the top section of the card front stamp the ivy with Pretty Peacock ink and 3 small flowers with Rococo Rose as shown.
  2. Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front flush with the bottom edge.
  3. Layer 2 - In Black Memento ink stamp the sentiment onto the left side of the strip. Then adhere to Layer 1 flush with the top edge.
  4. Layer 3 - Stamp 2 Large flowers and 2 small flowers with Rococo Rose ink then fussy cut out with paper snips. Adhere to card front as shown using Stampin Dimensionals.
5. Layer 4 - Adhere to the inside of the card.

6. Layer 5 - Stamp the flower star in Pretty Peacock onto the center of the sheet. Then using Black Memento ink stamp the sentiment in the center of the flower star. Then layer on the inside of the card.

Adhere Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the card front onto the center of each of the flowers and three on the sentiment strip as shown.

So Sentimental Bundle makes a Bundle of Cards!

Do you ever wonder what to make from all those Sentimental Stamp sets.  Well the So Sentimental Bundle from Stampin Up!® not only has great sentiments but matching Dies! Here are few cards made with this bundle and adding the Best Dressed Designer Series Paper.  These are quick cards to put together!

Aquick Wedding card using the So Sentimental Bundle and Best Dressed Designer Series Paper


Card Base: Purple Posey 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
Card stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Layer 1 - Best Dressed DSP 2 x 4 3/4
Layer 2 - Best Dressed DSP 3 x 5 (cut outs)
Layer 3 - Whisper White 3 x 4
Layer 4 - Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4

Project Recipe:

Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front flush with the left side centering top and bottom.
Adhere 4 3/4" of the ribbon onto Layer 1 centering and keeping top edge flush with card base. 
Tie a bow out of the remaining ribbon and adhere to bottom of ribbon strip.

Layer 2 - Cut out various flowers from the DSP then adhere them onto the right side of the card front as shown.

Layer 3 - Stamp the Sentiment in Petal Pink then cut out with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Adhere to card front as shown using Stampin Dimensionals.

Layer 4 - Adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 sheet to the inside of the card and either stamp a saying or write a note.

Add Pearl Basic Jewels to the cut out flowers and the sentiment tag.



Here's a quick card to send to a friend. It's so easy you'll want to make several!


Card Base: Old Olive 5 1/2 x 8 1/4
Card Stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Layer 1 - Best Dressed DSP 2 3/4 x 4 1/4.
Layer 2 - Best Dressed DSP 1 3/8 x 4 1/4 and
3 x 4 1/4
Layer 3 - Whisper White 2 1/2 x 4
Layer 4 - Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4


Project Recipe:
  1. Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front about 1 1/4" from bottom edge.
  2. Layer 2 - Adhere the 1 3/8 x 4 1/4 strip to the bottom of the card front using Stampin Dimensionals keeping bottom edges flush.
    Then cut a wave pattern in the 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 piece and adhere with Stampin Dimensionals to the top section of the card front keeping edges flush.
  3. Layer 3 - Stamp the sentiment in Petal Pink then using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies cut out label. Adhere to the card front as shown using multi purpose liquid glue on the bottom half and Stampin Dimensionals on the top section.
  4. Layer 4 - Adhere to the inside of the card and either stamp a sentiment or write a note.
  5. Color the Basic Rhinestone jewels with the Dark Old Olive Stampin Blend marker then add to card front: Three in top right corner and two on the sentiment label.

 Need a sympathy card or get well card. Here's the one for you! Very quick and easy!


Card Base: Blackberry Bliss 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
Card Stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Layer 1 - Best Dressed DSP 2 3/4 x 4 1/4
Layer 2 - Whisper White 2 1/2 x 2 1/2
Layer 3 - Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4

Project Recipe:
  1. You will need about 10-12" of the Whisper White Crinkled Ribbon. Color about 5 1/2 " with the Dark Blackberry Bliss Stampin Blend then set aside to dry. Tie a bow with the remaining ribbon.
  2. Layer 1 - Adhere to the bottom of the card front keeping edges flush.
  3. Layer 2 - Stamp the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink then cut out with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Then using Stampin Dimensionals adhere to the upper section of the card front centering.
  4. Once the ribbon is dry adhere it to the card front just above the DSP. It will be longer than the card front so you will need to trim off any sections that overlap.
  5. Layer 3 - Adhere to the inside of the card.
  6. Add the white bow to the center of the colored ribbon and add three of the Noble Peacock Rhinestones to the top of the card.

It's someones Birthday and look at this fun card! Your friends or family would be thrilled to see this one when they open the envelope.



Card Base: Mint Macaron 5 1/2 x 8 1/2
Card Stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP)

Layer 1 - Best Dressed DSP 2 x 3
Layer 2 - Best Dressed DSP 2 x 3
Layer 3 - Whisper White (3) 1/2 x 1 3/4
Layer 4 - Purple Posey 2 x 3
Layer 5 - Whisper White 1 1/2 x 2 1/2
Layer 6 - Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4
Project Recipe:
  1. Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front vertically about 1/4" from the top and left edge.
  2. Layer 2 - Adhere to the card front horizontally about 5/8" from top edge and 1/4" from right edge.
  3. Layer 3 - Stamp the confetti stamp onto the three strips with Mint Macaron Ink and Daffodil Delight ink as shown. Then adhere to the card front as shown.
  4. Layer 4 - Using the Stitched So Sweetly dies cut out a label. (This die should be the one bigger than you use for the next layer)
  5. Layer 5 - Stamp the sentiment in Mint Macaron ink then cut out with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Then adhere to the Purple Posey die. Using Dimensionals adhere them both to the card front as shown.
  6. Color three Basic Rhinestone jewels with the Dark Mint Macaron Stampin Blend then adhere to card front as shown.
Layer 6 - Stamp the sentiment in the center of the sheet in Mint Macaron ink. Then stamp the confetti above sentiment in Daffodil Delight Ink.
Adhere to the inside of the card.

I love the confetti on this card it makes it look so festive!

Now all you need to figure out is who to send it too!  Can't decide then make a few so you'll have enough to send out several!










We all have those people in our lives that show up to help whenever we need it. They sometimes show up when we don't ask for help but just seem to know we need a hug, text or phone call. Surprise them with this lovely card to say Thank you!

Project Recipe:

  1. Color the ribbon and 5 of the Rhinestone Basic Jewels with the Dark Blackberry Bliss Stampin Blend. Set aside to dry.
  2. Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front
  3. Layer 2 - Adhere to the card front center top to bottom and keeping right and left edges flush.
  4. Layer 3 - Stamp the sentiment in Blackberry Bliss then cut out with the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. Attach the ribbon to the back with Mini glue dots as shown then adhere to the center of layer 2 using Stampin Dimensionals.
  5. Layer 4 - Adhere to the inside of the card along the bottom edge.

Same Design Different Card - Round 3

Today I have an exciting take on the Same Design Different Card.  I did an accordion fold card using different Designer Series Paper and Stamp Sets!  I love the way they both came out!  Look what a difference these two suites make!  Parisian Blossoms Suite with Strong & Beautiful stamp set and Birthday Bonanza Suite!



  For the first Card I wanted to do a special Mother's day card for my Mother.  I used Stampin Up!® stamp set Strong & Beautiful, Forever Blossoms along with the Parisian Blossoms Designer Series Paper and the Parisian and Cherry Blossom Dies.  This one came out beautiful!  The Strong and Beautiful stamp set allowed me to express my gratitude for all my Mother has done for me over the years!

Here are the instructions for the Card Base, Card stock and Designer Paper cuts:

Card base instructions: After scoring the 2 card bases, on the 5 1/2 x 12 fold the 4" section in a valley fold then fold the rest going back and forth between valley and mountain.  On the 5 1/2 x 11 fold the 3" end in a mountain fold then fold the rest going back and forth between mountain and valley.  Make sure to burnish the edges so that it will fold easily. Adhere these 2 pieces together by applying tear and tape to the 1" fold section then laying the 3" end from the 5 1/2 x 11 piece onto the 1" folded section.  This picture if from the back of the card.



Front Panel -  Mother's day card

The first thing you will do is using Tear and Tape adhere the ribbon to the Card front panel making sure to leave enough room on the left side so that the ribbon will wrap around entire card once it is folded and tie as shown.
 I stamped the sentiment in Black Memento ink onto Whisper White then cut it out with the Stitched Shapes Dies.  I also cut out another circle in Petal Pink. Then adhere both to the card front.


Panel 1 & 2
1 - After adhering the Card stock and DSP to the panel.  I stamped some flowers and leaves on a Whisper White scrap using the Forever Blossoms stamp set then colored them in with Cherry Cobbler, Petal Pink and Mint Macaron Stampin Blends® then cut them out with the Cherry Blossoms Dies. Then adhered them to the center of the panel.

2- Adhere the Card stock and DSP to panel 2 then using the Strong & Beautiful Stamp Set and the Forever Blossoms stamps set stamp the sentiments and flower and leaves in Black Memento ink onto a Whisper White piece.  Cut out the sentiments with the Oval Die from the Stitched shapes Dies and the flower and leaves using the Cherry Blossoms Dies.  Also cut out 2 Petal Pink ovals (one size bigger) from the Stitched Shapes dies.  Then adhere all to the panel as shown.

Panel 3 & 4

3 - Adhere the card stock and DSP to the panel.

4 - On a piece of Whisper White stamp the sentiment using the Strong & Beautiful stamp set in Black Memento Ink then cut out with the Oval Stitched Shape dies.  Also cut out another Stitched Oval (one size bigger) with in Pretty Pink card stock.
Cut out 3 of the flourishes in Cherry Cobbler using the Parisian Dies. (One of these you will use on panel 6)
Then add all but one of the flourishes to the panel as shown.






Panels 5 & 6

5 - Adhere the Card stock and DSP to panel

6- Stamp the sentiment using the Strong & Beautiful stamp set in Black Memento Ink using a scrap of Whisper White then cut out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Cut out another rectangle die (next size bigger) in Pretty Pink.  Then add to panel using the flourish you cut on Panel 4 as shown.





 Back Panel:

Adhere the card stock and DSP to the back panel.

Close card and tie ribbon!
The second card was created using products from the Birthday Bonanza Suite!®.  This card came out so cute and I can't wait to send it off to my Grandson.  What a fun card it will be for him to open.  Bright colors and fun images!

Here are the step by step instructions for this fun filled card:

First you will want to stamp the following onto Whisper White card stock:

Three candles one in each of the following colors - Daffodil Delight, Terracotta Tile and Bermuda Bay.
One toucan in Black Memento ink then color in the beak with Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight and Cajun Craze Stampin blends.
One Lion, body and head in Daffodil Delight, the Mane in Mango Melody and face in Black Memento ink.
One koala in Smokey Slate and face in Black Memento ink.
2 set of the balloons in Daffodil Delight, Terracotta Tile and Bermuda Bay and 2 of the balloon strings in Black Memento Ink.
2 hats in Bermuda Bay.
A line of presents in three different colors, Daffodil Delight, Terracotta Tile and Bermuda Bay.
Cut out all images that have dies with the Bonanza Dies.  All other images will need to be fussy cut.

Card Front:

The first thing you will do is using Tear and Tape adhere the ribbon to the Card front panel making sure to leave enough room on the left side so that the ribbon will wrap around entire card once it is folded and tie as shown.

Stamp sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White in Black Memento Ink.  Then cut out using the Layering Oval Dies making sure the sentiment is towards the bottom of the Oval.  Also cut out an oval scallop from Basic Black card stock and mat the Whisper White oval onto the Black Oval.  Adhere both to the card front as shown.  Then add candles as shown. (If you haven't fussy cut them out do so now)


Panel 1 and 2

1 - Adhere the card stock and DSP (Designer Series Paper) to the panel.

2 - Adhere the card stock and DSP to the panel.  Then on a piece of Whisper White stamp the sentiment and fussy cut around.  Adhere to the top of the panel as shown.  Then add the Toucan, Balloons, Balloons strings and hat as shown.











Panel 3 and 4

3 - Adhere the card stock and DSP to the panel.

4 - On a piece of Whisper White stamp the sentiment then using the Layering Circle Dies cut the sentiment out.  Then cut out a scallop circle in Terracotta Tile.  Mat the sentiment circle onto the Terracotta Tile.  Build the Lion then attach to the back of the circle as shown then add it all to the panel as shown.  If you haven't already cut out the presents then go ahead and fussy cut them out and adhere to the bottom of the panel.






Panels 5 and 6

5 - Adhere the Card stock and DSP to the panel.

6 - Using the Bonanza Dies cut out the tag then stamp the word "from" as shown.  Using Glue dots attache the ribbon to the top of the tag.  Then adhere the tag to the panel as shown.  Next add the Koala, hat and balloons as shown.










Back Panel:

Add the card stock and DSP (Designer Series Paper) to the back panel.

Tie ribbon around card to close it.














I hope you will try out this design.  It was a blast to put together and you can see that by just changing up the Paper and Stamp sets it makes a big difference on the outcome!  Don't be afraid to try out your favorite product of suites to create your own version of these cards!
