Timeless Tulips and Sketches!

Ever have a time where the creativity is just not working? Try using a sketch to help you jump start your creative side.

One of the ways I come up with ideas for cards is by searching through sketches online and in pinterest.  They are a great way to get those creative ideas running.  Here is a card that I did after looking through several sketches.  I hope that this will encourage you to take a chance at using sketched when designing your cards.  Hope you like it!

  3. On a scrap of Whisper White stamp 2 large tulips in Flirty Flamingo ink and 4 leaves in Granny Apple Green ink then punch out with the Tulip Builder Punch. Then stamp the sentiment "Get Well Soon" in Granny Apple Green ink and fussy cut around the words.
  4. Adhere a 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 Bermuda Bay sheet to the card front centering top and bottom and right and left edges flush. You should be able to see the tops and bottom of the tulips that you stamped previously.
  5. Using the Scallop Border Punch (retired) punch out 2 borders 4 1/4 " long. Adhere to the back of a 2 3/4 x 4 1/4 sheet of Lilly Impressions Designer Series Paper. Then adhere both to the card front centering onto the Bermuda Bay piece.
  6. Adhere the 3 circles to the card front as shown. Then layer the punched out leaves and tulips (use Dimensionals to adhere the Tulips) keeping the Tulips close enough that you can adhere the sentiment as shown.

How to choose, How to choose!  There are so many wonderful stamp bundles in the Mini catalog and as we all know they are only available through June 30, 2020.  So I thought I would create a card using one of sets a little differently than expected  and combining it with a stamp set from the annual catalog.   Take a look!

OOPS!!!!

I realized that two of the cards I posted last week had issues with the link to the instructions! I'm so sorry for anyone that was unable to link through the site.  Here are the instructions that I promised.

Project Recipe:

  1. Adhere one of the 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White sheets to the card front.
  2. Using the 2" Circle punch, punch out 2 circles in Night of Navy and 1 in Crumb cake.
  3. On a 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White sheet stamp the raccoon, squirrel, mouse, 2 large flowers and 3 small flowers. The flowers will stamped in Black Memento Ink. Now for the 2-step stamping. I have found it easier to stamp the detailed part of the image first then stamp the base of the image. For the Raccoon I stamped the detailed image in Black Memento ink then I stamped the base in Smokey Slate directly over the detailed image. For this stamp set I found that lining up the eyes of the animals first then slowly lowering the rest of the stamp worked great. The Squirrel I stamped the detailed image in Early Espresso ink and the base in Crumb Cake. The Mouse I stamped the detailed image in Early Espresso ink and the base in Soft Suede. The Flowers I stamped the base over the flower petals in So Saffron ink. Once they are all stamped then use the Special Day dies to cut out all the images.
  4. Next using a 1 1/2 x 6 inch strip of Shaded Spruce and the Special Day Dies cut out a strip of grass (Note however far you place your die from the bottom is how long your grass will be). Once this is done then using the 2" circle punch, punch out three sections of the grass. (Note: you will just be using the bottom section of the punch)
  5. Add the animals to the circles - Squirrel and Mouse will be on the Night of Navy circles and the Raccoon will be on the Crumb Cake circle. Next add One large flower and one small flower to the Squirrel and Raccoon circles as shown and one small flower to the mouse circle. Last adhere the the grass to the bottom of the circles.
  6. Add a 1 1/2 x 5 1/4 strip of Neutral Designer Series Paper to the card front about 5/8' from the right side of the Whisper White piece on the card front. (I used a strip from the retired Neutral Designer Series paper but you can find a pattern from new patterns in the Neutral pack that will work) .
  7. Adhere the circle with the Mouse on it to the Designer Series strip about 1 1/4 inches from the bottom of the Whisper White piece (***this measurement is very important so that they will all fit). Then place the circle with the Squirrel on it above the one with the mouse overlapping just a bit. Then with stampin dimensionals adhere the circle with the Raccoon so that it sits to the left of the other circles and overlaps each of the other circles just a bit.
  8. On a 1/2 x 3 3/4 strip of Whisper white stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment in Crumb Cake ink to the right of the strip. Then stamp three small flowers as shown in Black memento ink then stamp the petals in So Saffron ink. Adhere this strip to a 3/4 x 4 inch strip and using stampin dimensionals adhere both to the bottom of the card front as shown.
  9. Adhere a 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White piece to the inside of the card and stamp whatever sentiment you like.

Project Recipe:

  1. This card base is cut at 4 1/4 x 11 and scored at 5 1/2.
Run the 2 3/8 x 3 7/8 Very Vanilla piece through the Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder making sure to pay attention to the direction of the Bricks. Then run the 2 1/2 x 3 Night of Navy piece through the Coastal Weave 3D embossing folder. Using the scalloped heart punch from the Heart Punch combo pack punch out a heart from the embossed Night of Navy piece.
  2. Next with a 2 1/2 x 3 Very Vanilla piece and the second to the smallest scalloped circle from the Layering Circle Dies cut out a circle and keep the rest as a template.
  3. Next using the Template that you just made set up onto the Stamparatus along with the 4 x 5 1/4 Very Vanilla sheet for the inside of the card and stamp the sentiments.
  4. Using the Stamparatus and the Birch Stamp stamp the image in Early Espresso (Note- because the stamp is bigger than the 4 x 5 1/4 Very Vanilla piece for the card front I mark one of the graph sheet for the stamparatus with arrows so I know where to lay down the Very Vanilla piece if it should move and I don't like the way it stamped)
  5. Cut strips from Designer Series paper of your choice. (1) 3/4 x 3, (1) 1/2 x 3, (1) 3/4 x 3 1/4. I used the Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper for the 3/4 x 3 and 2 different designs from the 6 x 6 Neutrals pack (retired) 1/2 x 3 and 3/4 x 3 1/4. - Note they have different designs in the new 6 x 6 Neutral pack that will work just as well. Then cut out a banner on one end of each strip.
  6. Adhere the Very Vanilla embossed with Brick and Mortar folder onto the 2 5/8 x 4 1/8 Early Espresso piece.
  7. Adhere the Night of Navy heart to the top of the Very Vanilla Brick and Mortar embossed matted sheet. Then add the banners to the bottom layering from lowest up, you will need to overlap just a bit. Keeping right edges flush.
  8. Take the Night of Navy/Sahara Sand twine and with Mini glue dots create a figure 8 with the twine across all three banners as shown. Then with Mini Stampin Dimensionals adhere the stamped Scalloped Circle over the twine. (Note make sure to only put a couple Mini Stampin Dimensionals onto the circle so that they do not adhere to the twine.) Add the Designer Series Element onto one of the banners.
  9. Then using Stampin Dimensionmals adhere to the card front about 1/2" from top edge of Birch stamped piece and 1/4" from right side.
  10. Adhere the 4 x 5 1/4 stamped sheet onto the inside of the card.

Hope you enjoy making these cards!
