Coming Home Christmas Card using Designer Series Paper and Dies.

I must admit I struggled with this bundle when I first got it then I started stamping and coloring and came to love the bundle.  I think that happens sometimes when we get a set then can't seem to come up with a design for it.  I have found that if I just get it out and start playing with it that all of the sudden all sorts of ideas start flowing!  That's what happened with this bundle!  It took me a few times playing with the dies to realize that they correspond with the Designer Series paper and I went a little crazy cutting out the houses and trees with the dies.  So here is the design that I would like to share with you.  It's simple easy and quick to put together.  I brought in the Evergreen Forrest 3D embossing folder to help with the back ground.  So let's get going and get this one put together.

Card base and cut instructions: (DSP = Designer Series Paper)

Card Base = Early Espresso - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4

Card stock - As you can see I used a couple different colors- Night of Navy - 4 x 5 1/4, Pool Party - 4 x 5 1/4, Whisper White (2) - 4 x 5 1/4 and small scrap, Early Espresso - 1 1/4 x 3 1/4

DSP - Trimming the Town (Houses and Trees)

Instructions:

1.       Run 4 x 5 ¼ colored Card stock through the Evergreen Forest 3D embossing folder.  Then using a sponge dauber and Whisper White pigment ink chalk over the image. (make sure you move your dauber in a circular motion) Set aside to dry.

2.   Using the sloped die from the Home together dies (without the trees) place onto one of the 4 x 5 ¼ Whisper White pieces about 2 ¾” from bottom on left side and run through die cut machine.

3.   On the left over piece stamp the car and wreath in Black memento ink, and sentiment (in color you will be coloring the car) Note: leave enough room between car and sentiment that you can cut them both out with the die. , Color in the car & wreath with Stamp N Write markers. Using the Home together Dies cut out the car & wreath.  Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies cut out the sentiment plus run the 1 1/4 x 3 1/4 Early Espresso piece though as well.

4.   On the other 4 x 5 ¼ WW piece stamp the sentiment (in the same color as the other sentiment) in the center, then stamp one large tree and one small tree in the bottom right hand corner and color in with Old Olive and Early Espresso Stamp N Write Markers.

5.    If you want to you can color in the windows of the houses using the Daffodil Delight Stamp N Write Marker.

6.    If craft ink is dry on the colored card stock you can begin to assemble the card front. Adhere to card front.

7.    Then adhere the sloped Whisper White piece on top keeping bottom edges flush.

8.   Adhere the small house to onto the front of the large house using Stampin Dimensionals.  Then adhere to card front as shown.

9.   Adhere wreath to the top of the house as shown.

10. Adhere the Stitched Early Espresso piece to the card front about ½” below the house keeping it inline with the house.

11.  Using Stampin Dimensionals adhere the Whisper White sentiment onto the Early Espresso piece.

12.  Adhere small tree flat onto card front as shown then using Stampin Dimensionals pop up the large tree as shown.

13.  Using Stampin Dimensional on the left side of the car and liquid glue on the right adhere car as shown.

14.   Adhere the other Whisper White piece that is stamped with sentiment and trees to the inside of the card.

15.  Adhere the Faceted Gems as desired onto the embossed piece on the card front.

Note: Try making this card with different colored card stock that is embossed it looks great in all sorts of colors! I hope you enjoyed making this card as much as I did.  Once you start working with this set I'm sure you will be inspired with tons of designs.  Let me know how it goes in the comments below!
