Nothings Better Than Working with Angles

Thanks for popping by today!  I don't know about you but I looooove Chocolate.  I've always said it needs to be a food group!  So when I saw this "Nothings Better Than" stamp set I couldn't resist.  For this card I wanted to use shapes to create a card so thus the triangles!  I've included a video of this card just in case the pictures below don't explain well enough how I cut the angles and added the ribbon.  Hope you enjoy!  Don't forget to leave me a comment below!  I'd love to hear from you!

Card Base: Thick Very Vanilla – 5 ½ x 8 ½ scored at 4 ¼

Cardstock/DSP:  (DSP = Designer Series Paper)

Layer 1 – Misty Moonlight – 4 ¼ x 5 ½

Layer 2 – Subtles DSP  – 4 x 4 ¼

Layer 3 – Very Vanilla – 2 ½ x 4

Layer 4 – Early Espresso – 3 x 3 (video show larger piece because I was going to cut out more words later)

Layer 5 – Misty Moonlight – 4 1/8 x 5 3/8

Layer 6 – Whisper White – 4 x 5 ¼

Instructions:

·         Layer 1 – Using a paper trimmer cut piece in half at a diagonal.

·         Set aside

·         Layer 2 – Using a pencil and ruler, mark up 2” on the 4” side

Using a paper trimmer line up pencil mark in the cutting track and cut down to corner.

Here’s the tricky part.  You will want to wrap your ribbon around both Layer 1 and Layer 2 before adhering them to the card front.

·         Note: This next step you will do before adhering either layer down –

·         First place a glue dot behind Layer 2 right at the top corner – Wrap ribbon around this edge.

·

Next lay Layer 1 and 2 in place and stretch ribbon over to Layer 1.  Using pencil mark where it needs to lay.

Then turn Layer 1 over apply adhesive to the back!

·         Turn back over making sure not to set down and stretch ribbon over edge making sure that when it all lays down it will be tight and straight.

·         Now your ready to adhere Layer 1 and 2 to the card front as shown.

·         I did Layer 1 first - .  I did add some Multipurpose Liquid glue to the tips to get a good hold.

Adhere Layer 1 to the right side of the card front keeping bottom and right edges flush. (Note: it will not reach all the way to the left side of the card front.

·

Now add Layer 2 – I used Mulitpurpose Liquid glue for this one so that I would have some wiggle room to lay it down straight.

So this is what it should look like when you have both sides adhered in place!

·         Using the Starburst stamp image stamp along the edge of Layer 1 in Soft Suede Ink as shown.

·         Also stamp the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink onto the card front as shown.

·         Layer 3 – Using the Nothings Better Than stamp set

·         Stamp 2 cookies (Note these are 2 step stamping stamps)

                                                   i.      Stamp the Detailed cookie image in Early Espresso Ink

ii.      Stamp the Solid Cookie Image over the Detailed image in Crumb                               Cake ink

·         Stamp 1 Chocolate (2 step stamping)

                                                   i.      Stamp Detailed chocolate in Early Espresso ink

ii.      Stamp Solid Chocolate over the Detailed image in Soft Suede ink

·         Using the Love You More Than Dies cut out the Cookies and Chocolate.

·         Adhere to card front as shown.  I did pop up the cookie in the front with a stampin                 dimensional

·         Layer 4 – Apply Adhesive sheet to back side.

·         Using the Love You More Than Dies cut out the words “Cookie” and “Chocolate”

·         Adhere to card front as shown.

·         Layer 5 – Adhere to inside of card.

·         Layer 6 – Stamp the chocolate image in bottom righthand corner using same ink colors as                                  chocolate on card front.

·          Then stamp the sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink

·         Adhere to Layer 5 inside the card

·    Last adhere 2 of the 2020-2022 In color enamel dots (Misty Moonlight) to each end of the ribbon on the card front.

Light Me Home & Stampin Blends!

So glad you popped by to my blog today!  I don't know about you but coloring always helps me to calm down and relax.  For this card I used the "Light Me Home" stamp set by Stampin UP®.  I added in stampin blends, rhinestones and the Stitched Shape dies to create this lovely scene.  I really enjoy coloring and this stamp set gives you plenty of things to color in and decorate.  I used stampin blends but you could easily use watercolor pencils or the Stamp N Write markers and get a great finish.

I'd love to hear what you think so please scroll to the bottom and leave me a comment.  Also if you'd like to get a notice each time I add a new card just add your email to the right under the "Follow Me" title.

Here's a video of this card just click on the link below!  I'm also including the step by step instructions below!

Warm & Toasty Ice skating pond

The cold weather outside has made me think about outdoor activities.  Living in New Mexico we didn't have cold enough weather or large ponds that would ice over so that you could ice skate on them.  It was something I always wanted to do growing up!  We didn't even have an indoor ice skating rink when I was young.  So I am making a card to remind of a childhood dream.  For this card I used the Warm & Toasty Stamp set by Stampin Up®.  I also used the Feels Like Frost Designer Series paper which I though added a great touch to the card.  I did do a video for this card so if you'd like to watch it just click on the link below and you'll be taken to my facebook page!

Cut Instructions:

Card Base and Cuts - (DSP = Designer Series Paper)

Card Base = Night of Navy - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4

Layer 1 = Water Color Paper - 4 x 5 1/4

Layer 2 = Feels Like Frost DSP - 2 x 4

Layer 3 = Whisper White - 1 1/2 x 2 1/2

Layer 4 = Night of Navy - 2 x 3

Layer 5 = Whisper White - 4 x 5 1/4

Instructions:

  1. Layer 1 - Using Staz On Black ink stamp the skating bear image on the left side of the sheet about 1/2" from bottom Edge.
    • Next using the Watercolor Pencils Assortment 2 pack pick out the Balmy Blue pencil and color in the hat and scarf as shown.
    • Then using the same color draw in your pond around your Bear and color in the pond. (Note: press harder for areas that you want to be darker)
    • Next using the Water painters, starting with the thinnest one dampen the end then blend in the Balmy Blue on the hat and scarf.  Also blend in the darker areas of the pond and the the edges of the pond with the thinnest water painter.
    • Switch to the largest Water painter and continue to blend in the color on the pond. Set aside to dry
    • Using the snowflake stamp and Night of Navy ink stamp a few snowflakes around the Bear above the pond as shown.
    • Once it is completely dry, using the fine tip glue pen spread the glue over the pond area making sure to smooth out any bubbles as you go.  I did go over the ice skates but not the shoes. (This will use quick a bit of glue). Set aside to dry.
    2.  Layer 2 - One pond is dry then adhere to Layer 1 on the right side of the sheet keeping bottom,               top and right edges flush.
    •  Then lay down ribbon to measure where you will need to add snow. (DO NOT ADHERE THE RIBBON)
    • Using Shimmery White Embossing Paste and the Palette Knives stir up the paste then carefully add the paste around the edge of the pond.  Make sure not to put snow where the ribbon where lay.  (Note: if you are wanting to mail this card then you may want to push the paste down so that it won't cost extra to mail it but I think it looks better with piles).  Set aside to dry.
    • Once it's dry then add the ribbon as shown.
    • Adhere Layer 1 and 2 to the card front.
   3.  Layer 3 - Using Night of Navy ink stamp the sentiment then cut out using the Layering Ovals                  dies.

   4.  Layer 4 - Using the Layering Ovals dies cut out a scalloped Oval.
  • Adhere Layer 3 to Layer 4 then adhere both to the card front as shown using Stampin Dimensionals.

   5.  Layer 5 - Using Night of Navy ink stamp the sentiment in the center and the snowflakes down                the right side.  Adhere to the inside of the card.

   6.  Last using a silicone mat, pour a small amount of Multipurpose Liquid glue onto it and add a                  couple drops of water.  Mix together with Water Painter (I used an old Aqua Painter)

  • Then brush on the glue to the card front where you will want to add sparkle. (I added a couple strips on the pond, on the booty of the bear, on the white parts of the scarf and hat and the center of the snowflakes)Very Important: when adding the glue be careful when touching any of the inked images as they will run if you add to much glue.
  • Cover the glue with Dazzling Diamonds (Note: Stampin Up does not sell this anymore so if you do not have any you can use a very fine glitter)
This was such a fun card!  It is not hard to do just a little time consuming because you have to let it dry between a few of the steps.  Thanks for stopping by my blog!  Please don't forget to leave me a comment below and let me know what you think of this card.
