Morning Star - Card 2 Working with Sketches!

Welcome to my blog!  One of the tools I use to help me out when I'm struggling to come up with a card design is Working with Sketches.  Take at look at the card I designed using a free sketch I downloaded online.  Even though it was a larger card I was able to convert it to fit an 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 card base.  I think it came out great!

Look at this card! This is my second in the Card Sketch series. If you missed the first one click on the link to the right for Morning Star - Card 1. Don't forget you can get free Card Sketches online by simply searching for "Free Card Sketches".

Cuts for Card Base, Card Stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP):
Card Base: Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Scored at 4 1/4.

Layer 1 - Pretty Peacock - 1/2 x 4 1/2
Layer 2 - 2019-2021 In Color DSP
2 1/4 x 2 1/4
Layer 3 - Pretty Peacock - 2 1/2 x 2 1/2
Layer 4 - Whisper White - 3 x 4
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 1 1/2 x 2
Layer 6 - Terracotta Tile - 1 1/2 x 2
Layer 7 - Terracotta Tile - 4 1/8 x 5 3/8
Layer 8 - Whisper White - 4 x 5 1/4

Project Recipe:

  1. Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front about 1/2" from bottom edge. It will overlap just trim off the overage.
  2. Layer 2 - Adhere to Layer 3 centering.
  3. Layer 3 - Once you've adhered Layer 2 to this layer then adhere to the card front as follows:
1st square adhere to the top left of the card front about 1/8" from the left edge top edges.
Then adhere the 2nd Square slightly overlapping onto the 1st square about 1 1/8" from top edge of card front and 1/8" from right side.
  4. Stamp the small (3) star stamp onto the card front in the corners of the squares you just adhered as shown using Pretty Peacock Ink.
  5. Layer 4: Stamp 2 of the flourish star in Pretty Peacock on this sheet. Make sure to leave enough room between the two stars and around each star so that you can cut them out using the Stitched Star Dies. Then cut out with the Dies. Attach Stampin Dimensionals to the back of each star and then adhere as shown onto the Squares on the card front.
  6. Layer 5 - Stamp the sentiment in Black Memento Ink then fussy cut around the sentiment.
  7. Layer 6 - Adhere layer 5 to this layer then fussy cut around both leaving a small edge around the Whisper White piece. Then using Stampin Dimensionals adhere to the card front centering on the Pretty Peacock strip across the bottom.
8.   Layer 7 - Adhere to the inside of the card.

9. Layer 8 - Stamp the large star that says "You are a Star" in Pretty Peacock in the center of this sheet. Then mat this inside the card onto Layer 7.

10. Add 2 flower faceted Gems to the Sentiment strip on the front. One on each side as shown.
