Delicate Dahlias and Soft Pastel Chalks

So glad you stopped by today!  I'm trying to get in all the cards I designed with the August - September 30, 2021 Sale A Bration Stamp sets!  For those of you who don't know what Sale A Bration is, it's a special that Stampin Up® runs for their customers where they can get free product with a minimum order.

This set Delicate Dahlias is one of those sets so I'm rushing to get this blog in before it's to late to qualify for this great stamp set.

For this card I used one of our new coloring products the Soft Pastels chalks.  This card is done with a dry application!

Reminder!  If you like my cards and would like to be notified each time I add a new one to my blog just add your email to the right and you will be notified when I add new cards!!!!!!!

So here we go below you will find the card cuts, instructions, supply list and a link to a video I did showing how to use the Soft Pastel chalks in both a dry application (this card) and a wet application (one other card)!

Card cuts:
Card base - Granny Apple Green - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4

Layer 1 - Basic Black - 4 1/8 x 5 3/8
Layer 2 - Basic White - 4 x 5 1/4
Layer 3 - Basic White - 4 1/2 x 5 1/2 (sentiments)
Layer 4 - Basic Black - 4 1/8 x 5 3/8
Layer 5 - Basic White - 4 x 5 1/4

Instructions:

1.  Using a silicone matt and the scalpel edge on the Take a Pick tool.  Scrap off some of the chalk from the Gorgeous Grape stick and the Granny Apple Green stick.  It will look like a pile of powder which is what you are looking for.

2.  Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front.

3.  Layer 2 - Using Versa Mark ink stamp the large solid Dahlia in the top right corner as shown.
  • Next using a sponge dauber pick up some of the Gorgeous Grape chalk powder and dab onto the image in a circular motion. (Note: this application will leave a halo around the flower but I wanted that, you can push some of it back into the flower using a kleenex if your not happy with that look)
  • Now stamp the 2 solid small Dahlia's just below the large one as shown and follow the same steps as above to color in the flowers.
  • Now you will use the detailed stamps for the flowers and stamp over the solid images using Gorgeous Grape ink.
  • Next stamp 3 of the solid leaves as shown.  Then follow the same steps above except use the Granny Apple Green chalk powder.
  • Then use the detailed leaves stamp and stamp over the chalked images using Granny Apple Green ink.
  • Wrap ribbon around sheet about 1 1/4' from the bottom edge
  • Tie a bow with extra ribbon and adhere as shown with a Mini Glue Dot
4.  Using one of the sentiments made with the Many Happenings stamp set and dies adhere to the card front as shown using dimensionals.

5.  Adhere the In color jewels to the center of the flowers as shown.

6.  Layer 3 - Using the Many Happenings Stamp set, stamp in Black Memento ink
  • Using the Message Dies cut out all of the sentiments
  • Pick out the ones for this card and store the rest
7.  Layer 4 - Adhere to the inside of the card

8.  Layer 5 - Using the same technique as the front of the card stamp and chalk the large Dahlia in the bottom right hand corner.
  • Adhere another of the sentiments from the Many Happenings die cuts as shown.
  • Adhere to the inside of the card onto Layer 3.
My video shows all of these steps!

Textures & Frames Design a background!

I'm so glad that you stopped by my blog today!  Here is yet another card in my Textures & Frames series working with shapes.  I got this idea from Laura Mackie to design an entire background!  I loved her colors but really wanted to use some of the Stampin Up® 2021-2023 In colors.  I was very pleased with the outcome!

For this card I brought in the Stitched So Sweetly dies and the Pansy Patch stamp set for the sentiments!

This background looks a lot harder than it is!  Once you get the pattern down it goes really quick!

Below are the card cuts, instructions, supply list and link to the video I did with all the cards in this series!

Card cuts:

Card Base - Evening Evergreen - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4

Layer 1 - Basic White - 4 x 5 1/4

Layer 2 - Evening Evergreen - 2 x 3

Layer 3 - Fresh Freesia - 1 3/4 x 2 3/4

Layer 4 - Basic White - 1 x 2

Layer 5 - Basic White - 4 x 5 1/4

Instructions:

1.  Layer 1 - Using the following inks stamp in the pattern shown:
  • Fresh Freesia, Evening Evergreen and Pale Papaya
2.  Layer 2 - Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies cut out a Matte.

3.  Layer 3 - Using the Stitched Rectangle Dies again cut out the next matte.

4.  Layer 4 - Using Evening Evergreen ink stamp the sentiment from the Pansy Patch stamp set.
  • Then cut out using the Stitched Rectangle Dies
  • Now adhere all the mattes together as shown.
  • Using Mini Glue Dots adhere the ribbon as shown
  • Using Stampin Dimensionals adhere the sentiment mattes over the ribbon as shown.
5.  Layer 5 - Stamp pattern along the bottom edge as shown
  • Stamp the sentiment using the Pansy Patch stamp set in Evening Evergreen as shown
  • Adhere to the inside of the card!

For this card I paired the Textures and Frames Stamp set with the Wildly Adorable stamp set and the Stitched So Sweetly dies  in our Annual catalog!
