Warm & Toasty "Train Ride" Christmas Card

This is my last Christmas Card this year and I wanted to end it with a bang!  This one was so much fun to create! I combined the following stamp sets!  Warm & Toasty, Moving Along, Merry Moose and Curvy Christmas!  One of my Christmas traditions is to take my Grandkids on the Polar Express every year!  I wanted to make a card that reminded me of all the fun we have together on the train as it moves through the mountains.  This took a little finagling of the tracks stamp but it wasn't to hard to maneuver the tracks as it is a photopolymer

Before we get started on the instructions don't forget to follow my blog by adding your email to the right!  Then you will know when I add new cards to my blog!

Card Base and Cuts - DSP = Designer Series Paper

Card Base - Merry Merlot = 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4

Card stock - Whisper White (3) 4 x 5 1/4, 2 x 5 1/2 

DSP - Classic Christmas - 2 x 6, 1/2 x 5 1/4 

Step by Step Instructions:

1. On the first 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White piece stamp the Trees from the Curvy Christmas Stamp Set in Shaded Spruce Ink across the top.  Then set aside.
2. Next using the Curvy Dies and the die with the dots along the top cut out a slope from the 2 x 5 1/2 Whisper White piece. 
• Then using the train track stamp from the Moving Along stamp set, stamp the tracks just below the dots (Note: you will have to adjust your stamp as you go so that it will curve in the right places to follow the slope)
• Adhere to the other Whisper White piece. Trim off any parts that go past the right and left edges. 
3. On the second 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White piece stamp the following:
• Using the Moving Along Stamp Set, stamp the detailed train engine and train cars in Black Memento ink (these are 2 step stamping stamps - I always stamp the detailed one first then I stamp the solid image over that) then stamp the solid images as follows: The Train engine in Misty Moonlight ink, the train cars in Merry Merlot ink.
• Using the Merry Moose stamp set, stamp (2) of the presents images then color in with Stamp N Write Markers.  I used Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler and Misty Moonlight
• Using the Warm & Toasty Stamp set stamp the two mice and color with Stamp N Write Markers.  I used Misty Moonlight, Smokey Slate, Merry Merlot and Rococo Rose.  
• Using Merry Merlot Ink and the Warm & Toasty stamp set, stamp the sentiment.  Then cut out with the Hippo and Friends smallest label die. 
• Using Paper snips fussy cut out all the images.  I cut the Mice apart. 
• Now adhere the images as shown on the card front.  (Note: you will have to make all the parts of the train touch to that they will all fit).  I placed the mice behind the train cars.  The presents are placed flush with the tops of the car trains. 
4. Using the Curvy dies and the DSP turn the trees upside down, place the curvy die about an inch down from the top edge (which is upside down) and cut out.  This should cut out a piece that is curved but does not have the dots in it.  Adhere this to the piece that you just attached the train to with bottom edges flush.  Again trim off any excess on the right and left sides. 
5. Next adhere all of it to the card front. 
6. On the last piece of 4 x 5 1/4 Whisper White using the Curvy Christmas stamp set and Merry Merlot ink stamp the sentiment in the center.  Adhere the DSP strip to the bottom edge.  Then adhere it all to the inside of the card.

Dove of Hope by Stampin Up with Curvy Dies

Happy to have you popping in today!  I must admit I wasn't sure how this card was going to turn out when it was an idea in my head!  I don't know about you but sometimes in my head they always look better than when I create them in person.  Not sure why that happens but it does.  So then you spend time adding or taking away to get what you had pictured in your mind and usually it will all turn out in the end.  I'm happy to report that this one actually came out the way I had it pictured in my head so I didn't have to do a lot of changes.  Let me know what you think in the comments at the end of the blog!  Also don't forget to follow me by adding you email to the right so you will know when I add new cards to my blog!

For this card I combined the Dove of Hope Bundle the Curvy Christmas Stamp set and Curvy dies. I also brought in some of the Brushed Metallic sheets which I love and I'm going to show you how to get more use out of one piece.  Ok so here we go:

Card Base and Cuts - DSP = Designer Series Paper.

Card Base: Cherry Cobbler 5 ½ x 8 ½ scored at 4 ¼

Card Stock: WW – 3 ¾ x 5, 4 x 5 ¼, 3 x 5 1/2 , Shaded Spruce 1 x 2

DSP: Classic Christmas (155969) 2 x 6, 3 x 6

Specialty Paper: Bronze Brushed Metallic CS (153524)

Step by Step Instructions:

1.       Using the Detailed Dove Dies and the Bronze Brushed Metallic CS cut out the Dove’s body and 2 detailed wings from the CENTER of the sheet.  NOTE:  You must leave an edge as this is the matte on the card front******* (This is a great way to save on the metallic or foil sheets - if I'm using them for mattes I will usually use my Stitched rectangle dies and cut out the center before using it as a Matte.)

2.       Now cut out the solid wings and tail from the 3 x 5 ½ Whisper White piece. Adhere Metallic Dove  pieces to these as shown.

3.       Cut out the sprig branch from the 1 x 2 Shaded Spruce piece. Set Aside.  

4.       Adhere the Bronze Brushed Metallic piece (that you cut out the dove from) to the card front.

5.       On the 3 ¾ x 5 Whisper White piece using the Curvy Christmas Stamp set stamp the sentiment on the bottom center edge using Cherry Cobbler Ink.

 6.  Using the Curvy Dies and the Classic Christmas DSP cut out the curved shapes for the front of the card.  NOTE: On the Crumb cake design cut the top piece first from the bottom of the crumb cake piece (this will leave the curved edge for your  other piece)  Then move the die to the top of the piece with the curved edge on the bottom and cut again. 

7.      Adhere the curved pieces to the front of the card placing the top piece first then the Cherry Cobbler piece then the piece with the curved edge on the bottom. (Note: they will be longer than your Whisper White piece and you will need to trim them once you have them all where you want them)

8.       Assemble the Dove on the card front with one Wing behind the Dove’s body and one in Front.  Place Shaded Spruce Twig just under the Dove’s beak.  Then adhere the Linen Thread Bow as shown.

9.        Using the Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin Blend color in the Rhinestone. 

10.       Adhere Rhinestone to the bow as shown.  

11.       On the last Whisper White piece Stamp the sentiment in the center using Cherry Cobbler ink then stamp the dove image in the bottom right hand corner using Crumb Cake ink. Adhere to the inside of the card.

      I really think that the Curvy Dies helped to make this card go together and I love the Dove!  Think about all the beautiful cards you can make with both of these bundles!  The Curvy Dies is part of the Quite Curvy Bundle and the Curvy Christmas is an add on.  I hope you will try this one it goes together really fast!  Don't forget to drop me a line below in the comments.

Tag Buffet by Stampin Up® Christmas Card - Masking Technique

Hope your neck deep in Christmas Cards!  I think that we have gotten away from sending each other cards in today's world and I think its so sad!  I don't know anyone who doesn't like getting mail from someone!  Especially a hand made card!  

Here's a fun one that goes together really quick.  I used the Tag Buffet stamp set and Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper all by Stampin UP®.   This paper really reminds me of Christmas!  It has that touch of nostalgia that just makes you think of all the old Christmas traditions in your family!  At least it does for me!

This card works with the masking technique which will require post-it-notes.  So don't forget to get some!

Card Base and Cut Instructions: (DSP = Designer Series Paper)

Card Base: Real Red 5 ½ x 8 ½ scored at 4 ¼

Card Stock: Very Vanilla – 4 1/8 x 5 3/8, 2 7/8 x 4 3/8, 2 5/8 x 4 1/8, Real Red 2 ¾ x 4 ¼

DSP: Toile Tidings (150432) 4 x 5 ¼, Tis the Season (153489) 2 x 6

Step by Step Instructions:        

1.       Adhere the 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 Very Vanilla piece to card front.

2.       Adhere the 4 x 5 ¼ Toile Tidings piece to the card front as well.

3.       Adhere the 2 7/8 x 4 3/8 Very Vanilla piece to the card front centering it.

4.       Adhere the 2 ¾ x 4 ¼ Real Red piece to the card front layering on the last sheet.

5.       Using Black Memento Ink stamp the stocking image onto a post- it- note.  Then cut out the image staying as close as you can to the outside of the black lines.

6.       Stamp the front stocking image onto the last piece of Very Vanilla.  Then cover that image with stocking post – it – note and stamp another image as shown.

7.       Next using the stocking post it note and another post it note mask off stamped stocking and stamp the leaves as shown.

8.       Stamp the Sentiment in Black memento ink as shown then stamp a leaf as shown.  

 9.   Color in the leaves with the Garden Green Stamp N Write Marker.  

10.       Next using Black Memento Ink stamp 3 stocking images onto the Tis the Season DSP then cut out the (3) top of the stockings, (2) heals of the stockings and the (1-2) toes of the stocking depending on how your image came out

11.   Adhere these pieces to the the stockings on the card front. (one stocking top will be saved for the stocking on the inside of the card)

12.     On the 4 x 5 ¼ Very Vanilla Piece stamp the sentiment in the center in Black Memento ink.  Then stamp a stocking in the lower right hand corner and glue the last stocking top to this image.

 

                                             

 

    As you can see this goes together really quick.  It's such a fun card to do!  Also you could do the same card but use the ornaments in the stamp set instead of the stockings and it would be just a cute!  Don't forget to leave me a note in the comments below!  It's always nice to hear from you!

Sweetest Time by Stampin Up® "All is Bright" Christmas Card

Glad you stopped by today!  This is another card I did for my Christmas Card Class this year.  The ladies loved it!  The hardest thing on this card is removing the green foil die cut from the adhesive backing.  It get a little confusing as you keep thinking some of the parts that are pulling off are needed but they are not!  Another thought on this card is to put the ribbon behind the green foil leaves but I liked it best this way!  The nice thing about making cards is putting your own stamp on them.  So take a chance and make a few changes and see how it comes out!

Card Base and Instructions:

Card Base: Real Red 5 ½ x 8 ½ scored at 4 ¼

Card Stock: WW (3) 4 x 5 1/4, 1 ¼ x 4 ¼, Shaded Spruce 2 ½ x 5 ½

Specialty Paper: Green Foil (153510) 2 ½ x 6

Step by Step Instructions

 1.       Adhere one of the 4 x 5 ¼ Whisper White pieces to the card front.

2.        On the next 4 x 5 ¼ Whisper White piece Stamp the candles in Real Red ink centering on sheet.  Stamp the candles in Daffodil Delight. Then using the Ornate Layers Die cut out the second to that largest die. (Note: the candles may extend up into the die cut but it is fine it looks fine)

3.       Adhere to the card front centering.

4.       Apply the Adhesive sheets to the back of the Green Foil.

5.       Using the Sweet Border Dies run the green foil through the die cutting machine.  Snip the ends where the points are then Remove border from adhesive backing (NOTE: be careful as you pull it apart and make sure you are paying attention you want the part that comes with the frame not the small inside pieces)

6.       Once you have all the small pieces removed from frame attach it to the 2 ½ x 5 ½ Shaded Spruce piece, Fussy cut around the whole piece.

7.       Adhere to the card front towards the bottom of the card front overlapping the candles. 

8.       Cut ribbon into 6 equal parts (2 ½ each) then fold each in half and adhere to the Green foil piece as shown.

9.     Stamp the sentiment in Real Red onto the 1 ¼ x 4 ¼ piece of Whisper White then using the Ornate Layers Dies cut out the sentiment.

10.   Using Stampin Dimensionals adhere over the ribbon.

11.   On the last 4 x 5 ¼ piece stamp the sentiment in Real Red ink onto the center of the sheet.  Then stamp the leaves and berries in the lower right hand corner as shown.
