Tropical Oasis Suite - Water Color Card 2

Thank you so much for dropping into my blog!  I've had so much fun playing with the Tropical Oasis Suite.  One of my favorite techniques is to water color.  I love the way this technique blends colors together.  This is my second card in the series.  My first one I actually shared in the Team Training Blog that I do each month so look for that link to the right in May's list.  Hope you enjoy this card and if you haven't tried this technique give it a try!

Botanical Prints - Card 3!

This is the last in my Botanical Prints Series!  This Product Medley from Stampin Up!® has provided great products to build several cards!  I only made three cards with this Medley and have enough supplies left over to make so many cards!  That's why I like purchasing the Product Medley's.  I hope you have enjoyed this series and in the future consider looking at the Product Medley's that Stampin Up comes out with in the future.  If you want to make cards quick this is definitely the way to go!  All you have to add is ink, card stock and a few embellishments.

Cuts for the Card Base, Card Stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Card Base: Thick Whisper White 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4.
Layer 1 - Basic Black - 4 x 5 1/4

Layer 3 - Botanical Prints DSP - 2 x 4
Layer 4 - Botanical Prints Die-Cut accents (Flower)
Layer 5 - 10" of Botanical Prints Ribbon
Layer 6 - Old Olive - 2 1/2 x 2 1/2
Layer 7 - Botanical Prints Die-Cut accents (label)

Layer 9 - Whisper White 4 x 5 1/4

Project Recipe:
  1. Layer 1 - Adhere to the card front.
  2. Layer 2 - Adhere to card front about 1/4" from bottom and right edges.
  3. Layer 3 - Adhere to card front about 1/4" from top and left edges. Overlapping Layer 2.
  4. Layer 4 - Punch out one of the Flower Die-Cuts and adhere to the card front towards the bottom of Layer 2 and overlapping Layer 3 just a bit.
  5. Layer 5 - Using about 10" of the Botanical Prints Ribbon and Mini Glue dots adhere the ribbon at an angle in the center of the card front with a loop towards the upper right corner and one loop towards the lower left corner as shown.
  6. Layer 6 - Using either the Layer Circle Dies or a 2" circle punch. Punch or cut out a 2' circle. Now work on Layer 7 by punching out a Label from the Die-cut accents, stamp the sentiment in Terracotta Ink then adhere to the Layer 6. Then adhere both over the center of the ribbon using Stampin Dimensionals. Making sure to place your Dimensionals in such a way that they won't touch the ribbon.

It's that time again!  Thanks for joining in our monthly Blog Hop!  I just love seeing all the beautiful and creative cards each month.  I'm sure you will enjoy all the cards.  Make sure to click on each one and see what these demonstrators across the world have created for you!  I hope you will try out some of these cards!  I decided to post a card I just did for my May card class.  Covid 19 has made it a little hard to hold classes but my Monthly group has opted to do online classes and it's been fun to create together!  So here's my card using the Tropical Oases Suite.

Timeless Tropical bundle using water color pencils and Aqua Painters.

Cuts for Card Base, Card Stock and Designer Series Paper (DSP)
Card Base: Soft Suede - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
Layer 1 - Terracotta Tile - 3 x 4 1/4
Layer 2 - Daffodil Delight - 2 1/4 x 3
Layer 3 - Pear Pizzaz - 2 1/4 x 3
Layer 4 - Shimmer White - 4 x 5 1/4
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 4 x 5 1/4

Project Recipe:

  1. Layer 1 - Using the Coastal Weave 3D embossing folder run through a Die cutting                                                                machine. Then adhere to the card front along the bottom edge.
  2. Layer 2 - Using the In the Tropics Dies cut out the detailed pineapple. Then adhere to                                                              the card front layering onto Layer 1 at an angle towards the right of the card. (Make                                                                    sure you leave enough room for Layer 3 to fit)
  3. Layer 3 - Using the In the Tropic Dies cut out the top of the pineapple. Adhere to the                                                                  card front just touching pineapple bottom and angled to the right upper corner of the                                                            card. (Make sure to fold back leaves before applying adhesive)

Layer 4 - Stamp the following onto this sheet in the Saddle Brown Staz-on                                                                ink making sure to leave enough room between each image so you can cut out with the Dies.
1. Large flower
2. Small Flower
3. 2 leaves
4. Sentiment

Layer 4 cont'd - Color in the flower with water color pencils with darkest colors towards the centers. I used Real Red, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight for the flowers and Old Olive for the leaves and center of the large flower.

Layer 4 cont'd - Note: on the leaves I put more pressure when I drew in the veins of the leaves.

Layer 4 cont'd - Then using an Aqua Painter blend the colors together. (Tip: You want the tip of the aqua painter to be damp but not soaking wet). Set aside to dry, once its dry use the In Tropic Dies to cut out the flower and leaves and the Stitched Shapes oval die to cut out the sentiment. Adhere the flowers and leaves to the card front layering over the pineapple. I only popped up the large flower. Next cut about a 3" piece of the Braided Burlap ribbon and adhere to the card front as shown using Tear and Tape adhesive. Fray edges. Now using Stampin Dimensionals adhere the sentiment over the ribbon.

Layer 5 - Stamp the sentiment in Saddle Brown Staz- on ink then adhere to the inside of the card.
