Kylie's Demonstrator Training Team Blog Hop - Whale Done - Water Globe with real water!

Welcome to our Monthly Team Blog Hop!  You are going to see cards from all over the world.  We have a great bunch of demonstrators that love card making and you can see it in their designs.  I decided to use the "A Whale of A Time Suite" by Stampin Up® to make this exciting card.  It's a water globe card with real water in the Globe!  That's right this card has water in it! Such a fun effect my Grandkids love this card! This is my third card using the Whale of A Time Suite and I am in love with this Suite.  Hope you enjoy it!

Card Base and Cuts: DSP = Designer Series Paper

Card Base: Granny Apple Green - 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
Layer 1 – Whale of a Time DSP - 4 x 5 1/2
Layer 2 – Whisper White – 3 ½ x 3 ½
Layer 3 – Whisper White – 3 ¼ x 5
Layer 4 – Whisper White – Circle from Layer 2
Layer 5 - Whisper White - 4 x 5 ¼
Layer 6 – Whisper White – 1 ½ x 1 ½

  1. Layer 1 – Using the Largest Circle from the Layering circle Dies cut a circle about 3/8" from top edge.

  2. Wrap Ribbon around bottom about ½” from bottom using Mini Glue Dots on the back side.

  3. Layer 2 – Using the Layering Circle Dies (The Largest and 3rd largest) cut out a circle frame.

  4. Set aside the Circle for your Layer 4.

  5. Sponge frame with Granny Apple Green ink.

  6. Then set inside of the circle in Layer 1 and tape in place on the back with scotch tape.

7. Using a 3 x 4 3/4 clear zip lock plastic bag, place onto back of Layer 1 as shown.

8. (Note: You will want the bottom of the bag to be even with the bottom of the circle frame this will leave a good portion of the bag off the top edge).

9. Next Using the Foam Adhesive Strips cut 4 strips at 3 1/4" long. Form a frame around the bag.

10. Caution: DO NOT TAPE DOWN THE BAG!

11. Adhere another foam strip at the bottom about 1/4" from the bottom edge. Set aside.

12. Layer 3 – Using Sponge Daubers and Granny Apple Green, Pool Party and Just Jade ink blend colors together onto the top section down about 3 ½”. (Lightest to darkest)

You'll want to start with the Granny Apple Green then, Pool Party and last Just Jade. Your trying to get the look of the ocean!

   13. Using Night of Navy ink stamp a few of the fish images and the air bubbles.

14. Layer 4 – Stamp the Whale image in Pacific Point Ink then punch out with the Whale Punch.

15. Lay Layer 1 over Layer 3 (Do not adhere) making sure to center and bottom edge about 1/8" longer then Layer 3.

16. Add Liquid glue to back of Whale and place in middle of circle onto Layer 3.

17. Remove Layer 1 turn over and pull of the covering from the Foam adhesive strips.

18. Then lay Layer 3 onto Adhesive Strips. Leaving space at the top for another Foam Adhesive strip.

19. Fill the zip lock plastic bag with about ¼ teaspoon of water and the Whale of a time sequin.

20. Seal bag about 3/4 of the way across then lay on table and carefully push out all air.

21. Once all the air is out seal completely. ****VERY IMPORTANT MAKE SURE THE BAG IS SEALED ALL THE WAY!****

22. To check for any leaks lay on a table carefully and apply a bit of pressure and move around. There should not be any wet spots.

23. Then slip bag down between layers 1 & 3.

24. Fold top of bag over Layer 3 and tape in the back.

25. Place another Foam Adhesive strip across the back top of layer 1.

26. Adhere Tear and Tape to the back of layer 3 remove backing from this and the Foam adhesive strip at the top.

27. Then adhere to the card front.

28. Layer 5 - Stamp Sentiment, turtle and fish in Pacific Point ink then adhere to inside of card.

29. Layer 6 – Stamp sentiment in Pacific Point. Fussy cut then with Stampin Dimensionals adhere to the card front as shown.
